For those who own real estate abroad: now is the time to submit your mandatory report. The deadline is on 31 December 2021.
If you are a Belgian tax resident and you own one or more foreign properties (irrespective whether they are rented out or not), you are required to submit a one-time report before the year-end.
Belgian properties are in general taxed based on their ‘cadastral’ value. The Belgian authorities will determine a (fictitious) cadastral income (CI) for each foreign property on the same basis as for Belgian properties.
Your foreign property will not suddenly become taxable in Belgium, but you are still required to report this as part of your worldwide income.
